Electrifying

ElectrifyingHaving finished up my trip to Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, I set out south along US-93 to head home.  Along the way I kept seeing lightning firing off along both sides of the highway.  I desperately wanted to stop and setup to capture some lightning, but this stretch of highway does have wide shoulders so stopping right off the highway was out of the question.  Then I remembered the junction with NV-168, and raced to this less traveled stretch of Nevada highway.  Once there I pulled over onto a very wide shoulder and setup at the first large yucca I could find.  As luck would have it, the day old full moon started to peek its face out from behind the clouds illuminating all the plants.  I setup my timer and started capturing.  I spent an hour at this location while the storm slowly moved north.  For this shot I combined the lightning strikes of 13 different frames to get what you see here.
