41°48'4" N 124°3'12" WFor our first outing in redwoods country, I took my daughter to Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.  To get there required traveling east along US-199 and then turn right onto this bridge which is South Fork Road.  This isn’t the first time I’ve crossed this span, but it was the first time I had the opportunity to capture it with my infrared camera.  This bridge is named the “Neils Christensen Memorial Bridge” also known to locals at the “Slant Bridge” and was built in 1956 in memory of Neils Christensen (1855-1952).  I tried to search online for more information about Neils and was unable to uncover anything.  Next time I’m in the area I plan on asking around to see what I discover (map).
