Continuing with shots for my Byways series taken during my latest trip out to Valley of Fire State Park just north of Las Vegas. This shot required a little work in the field as well as work in the digital darkroom. In the field I tried several different compositions. Different tripod heights, lens zoom length, and tripod location in the road. Of them I felt this was the best composition. I like how the center line draws you in from the corner of the frame and pulls you into the road which takes you through the rest of the image. The digital darkroom work was mostly removing various signs and shoulder markers. If you’re interested in seeing what’s around the corner, I’ll be sharing a photo of that on Friday (map).
