To get to the Charcoal Kilns in Death Valley you have to take Emigrant Canyon Rd just off CA-190 near Emigrant Canyon Campground. After visiting the kilns, I was driving back when I came around the corner you see here. Knowing not to pass up an opportunity to photography a curve in the road I pulled over. Looking around I saw a nice hill behind me that would make an ideal shooting location. I turned around and parked just out of the frame to the right. I put on my hiking shoes, donned my backpack with all my gear, and started climbing. The climb was pretty easy and I’m really happy with the results. My favorite from the trip (map).
